Fall (September – November)
– Take the PSAT.
– Prepare for the SAT and/or ACT.
Winter (December – February)
– Take the SAT and/or ACT.
– Build a college list.
– Plan college visits – to be scheduled for summer break.
– Start scholarship search.
Spring (March to May)
– Take the SAT and/or ACT – 2nd trial.
– Take AP Exams – offered in May by College Board.
Summer (June to August)
– Visit target colleges.
– Begin drafting college application essays.
Senior
Fall (September – November)
– Take the SAT and/or ACT - third trial.
– Revise college application essays.
– Ask for letters of recommendation.
– Check all application materials - forms, test scores, essays, recommendations, transcripts, etc.
– Submit early decision (ED) application - usually due in November.
– Submit early action applications.
– Submit CSS PROFILE if applying early.
– Schedule ED interviews.
Winter (December – February)
– Receive response on early applications - by December.
– Submit enrollment deposit for early decision school, if desired.
– Submit regular decision (RD) applications.
– Fill out and submit the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE.
– Schedule RD interviews.
Spring (March to May)
– Update your FAFSA and CSS PROFILE applications as needed.
– Send tax transcript for verification, if requested.
– Receive decision on regular applications - usually in March or April.
– Compare financial aid packages from accepted schools.
– Consider work-study and loans.
– Consider a financial aid appeal if needed.
– Submit enrollment deposit.
– Take AP Exams - offered in May by College Board.
Summer (June to August)
– Complete enrollment paperwork.
– Coordinate with the financial aid office to identify work-study options.
